Scientologists
Disrupt the LMT
Invasion
of DeMoss
August
29, 2000
Several
Scientologists, including Mary DeMoss, barge
into the LMT offices to disrupt our activities.
This started to happen on a daily basis after
the Lisa
McPherson criminal case was dropped and
a vote for the redevelopment of Clearwater's
downtown was defeated by citizens who felt
the development would only benefit Scientology.

The
Clearwater police
were called when these incidents started happening.
One officer who responded to our call suggested
that it was simply a case of "tit for tat,"
comparing our peaceful picket of Scientology to
their entering and disrupting business on private
property.
If
any member of the LMT had entered a Scientology
building we would likely have been arrested on the
spot. Indeed, Mark Bunker was arrested
in Chicago while trying to peacefully videotape
an interview in front of a Scientology building.
He was arrested for trespassing even though he was
on a public sidewalk.
